Our Commitment to the Environment

Artificial intelligence is transforming how students prepare their applications, and it also carries a measurable environmental cost in energy and water use. Gradly recognizes its responsibility in this area. This page outlines our approach to the environmental impact of our technology and the practices we follow to reduce it.

Our Position

The training and operation of AI models require significant amounts of electricity, and the data centers that support them consume water for cooling. As a provider of AI-powered tools, Gradly acknowledges its share of responsibility for these impacts and believes they should be addressed openly.

Purposeful Use of AI

Gradly applies AI where it delivers clear value to students, including essay drafting, resume review, and scholarship search. We do not incorporate AI into features that are better served without it.

Efficient Design

Where possible, we select models suited to the scale of each task rather than defaulting to the largest available option, and we avoid redundant requests by reusing saved results. Reducing unnecessary computation lowers energy consumption without compromising quality.

Responsible Infrastructure

Gradly operates on established cloud providers that publish their energy and sustainability commitments, including targets for renewable electricity. We consider these commitments when selecting and reviewing our infrastructure partners.

Digital Operations

Gradly is delivered entirely online. Students and university career centers can prepare, review, and revise application materials on screen, reducing the need for printed drafts.

Continued Review

Both AI technology and our product will continue to evolve. We will review our practices periodically and update this page when meaningful changes occur.
